2 DAY HIKE AND CAMP IN SIERRA DE GREDOS. HIKE THE GLACIER LAGOONS TRAVERSE IN SIERRA DE GREDOS NATURAL PARK, ÁVILA. A BACKPACKING TREK OF 2 DAYS AND 1 NIGHT.
This is a classic route crossing the Sierra de Gredos. Over two days we follow the mountain trail from Hoyos del Espino to Navalperal de Tormes, through the pass of Portilla del Rey at 2.383 meters, crossing the glacial lakes of Laguna Grande and Five Lagoons in the circus of Gredos.
This route offers a breathtaking tour sightseeing the rugged granite formations, glacial lakes, gorges and mountain peaks as the emblematic Almanzor Peak.
Further more, we will spend one overnight in bivouac (only with sleeping bag and pad) under the endless starry sky.
Type of Route: 2 Days linear traverse itinerary including 1 camp night.
Optionally we can arrange accommodation and half board (dinner & breakfast) in a mountain hut.
Distance: 24 km.
High Point: Portilla del Rey pass (2.372 m).
Ascent: 1.770 m.
Descent: 1.235 m.
· 7:00 AM. Meet up and pick up at your hotel or accommodation in Madrid.
· Transfer from Madrid to Hoyos del Espino, Ávila.
· 1st Day Guided Hike in the Sierra de Gredos Natural Park. 6 to 8 hours walking.
· Evening Chill out with drinks, hot expedition dinner and bivouac overnight with sleeping bag and pad under the stars.

· Hot breakfast, pack up camp and 2nd Day Guided Hike in the Sierra de Gredos Natural Park. 3 hours walking.
· Lunch break in Hoyos del Espino town and transfer back to Madrid (Estimated Time Arrival at 19:00 PM).

This program is subject to the existing weather conditions. In the case of rain, cold, or bad weather, the Guide may change or cancel the activity for safety reasons.
This trekking includes 5 to 8 hour hikes on paths and trails, involving ascents and descents through varied and rocky terrain and carrying a medium weight backpack (from 8 to 10 kg). A good level of fitness is required. Recommended for regular or habitual walkers and trekkers or sporty people. No previous hiking experience is required. In June and early July we can find some snow patches to be crossed and basic use of winter gear (crampons and ice axe) is mandatory. Each participant must bring their own personal equipment (hiking boots, walking sticks, etc) and appropriate seasonal clothing for being in the mountains.
Physical Fitness Level: High. Appropriate for people with a good physical fitness level.
Technical Level: Intermediate. The hike crosses rugged mountain terrain, scree sections and occasional easy rock scrambling. Previous hiking experience is recommended.
GROUP: Minimum 1 and Maximum 50 people.
For families with children under 14 years old, the route and distance will be adapted according to the age of the attendees.
-Backpack 30-50 litres. (Available for rental).
-Sleeping bag (3 seasons) and pad. (Available for rental).
-Mountain/Hiking boots or trail shoes.
-Functional underwear (breathable and wicking type).
-Breathable and wicking short sleeve T-Shirt , (we don´t recommend cotton, retains moisture).
-Light Warm Fleece or softshell.
-Breathable waterproof and windproof jacket.
-Headband or neck gaiter.
-Sun Cream and lip balm.
-Sun hat and sport Sunglasses.
-Walking/Trekking poles (Dreampeaks will provide them, if needed).
-Mobile phone and Camera.
-Passport/Identification document and personal belongings.
-Personal medication and first aid kit.
-Pocket knife (swiss type or Leatherman).
-Snacks (energy bars, fruits, sandwiches, nuts, etc…).
-Food for 1 light picnic lunch, 1 dinner and 1 breakfast.
-Drinks: 3 L of water per person (either in plastic bottle or hydration sacks), or isotonic drinks. Mandatory!
-Casual dry clothes and sport shoes for changing after the tour. We will leave them in the car until the end of the tour.
